We all know and love Italian spritzes! You've probably heard of the Aperol spritz or limoncello spritz, but have you ever tried a spritz made with Select liqueur?
After going to culinary school in Italy and drinking too many spritzes to count, I've fallen in love with this Venetian spritz made with Select. It has the perfect balance of citrus, bitter, and sweet notes.

Ingredients You Need

- Select liqueur: This is what adds the amazing flavor and color to the Select spritz.
- Prosecco: Even though prosecco is more popular in Italy, you can also use champagne.
- Soda Water: Anything labeled as seltzer or soda water will work. Don't use tonic water.
- Olive/Orange: The Select spritz is traditionally garnished with a green olive. I also love adding an orange wedge for another pop of color!
How To Make This Recipe
While the "classic" spritz recipe uses a 3-2-1 ratio, meaning 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts liqueur, and 1 part soda water, I prefer a 4-2-1 ratio with just a hint more prosecco.

1. Add ice to a wine glass.
2. Then pour in the Select liqueur. This cocktail is made using the "build up" method, meaning it is built directly in the glass you drink from.
3. Next, add the prosecco and soda water. Stir well using a bar spoon to ensure everything is incorporated.
4. Finally, garnish with a green olive and an orange slice.
Expert Tips
- Want to serve this spritz for an aperitivo? This drink is typically enjoyed before a meal to stimulate your palate and appetite. Fill up a few bowls with potato chips, nuts, and some tasty olives to pair with this drink.
- Sometimes, if I want a stronger spritz, I'll add 1 ounce (30 ml) of vodka (even though this is definitely non-traditional).
Recipe FAQs
Most often, in Italy, the spritz cocktail is enjoyed before dinner as an aperitivo with some snacks like chips or nuts.
You can always add a squeeze of fresh orange juice or a splash of simple syrup to sweeten things up.
