There's nothing better than a flavored cream cheese that you can whip up in under 5 minutes. This cream cheese is filled with chives, dill, and garlic, which creates an amazing flavor bomb when paired with your favorite bagel.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing better than a homemade bagel. Except maybe a homemade bagel topped with a savory, herby cream cheese!

I love this recipe for flavored cream cheese because it comes together super quickly and with minimal effort. But don't worry, nobody will be able to guess that after they taste the amazing flavor!

I love keeping this recipe in my back pocket for a brunch menu or just to dress up my weekly breakfast bagel.

    Ingredients You Need

herb cream cheese ingredients with labels.
    • Cream cheese: Either full-fat or reduced-fat cream cheese can work for this recipe. Make sure you allow it to come to room temperature.
    • Chives/Dill: I love the flavor of fresh herbs, but you can also use dried.
    • Lemon juice: This packs a great punch of tangy flavor.
    • Garlic: Feel free to omit if you're not a fan of raw garlic taste.

    How To Make This Recipe

This may just be the easiest recipe you'll make, which is part of what I love about it!

two numbered photos showing how to mix herb cream cheese.

    1. First, add the room temperature cream cheese, chives, dill, lemon juice, and garlic to a mixing bowl.

    2. Then, mix everything until it's combined. I like to allow everything to sit in the refrigerator so the flavors can marry together.

    Expert Tips

    • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 10+ days.
    • Did you know you can turn this recipe into a whipped cream cheese? Just add all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer (using the whisk attachment) until everything is light and fluffy.

    Recipe FAQs

How should I use this herbed cream cheese?

Aside from just adding it to a bagel, one of my favorite ways to use this cream cheese is on a lox sandwich. Grab your favorite lox or smoked salmon, along with some thinly sliced onions and capers. I like to layer a thick smear of the herb cream cheese on the bagel, then top with the lox, onions, and capers. Trust me, you'll be obsessed!

Can I make this with vegan cream cheese?

Yes! Just make sure you allow it to come to room temperature before mixing everything together.
