35 St. Patrick's Day Shots

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with some fun shots and shooters. These recipes are a mix of green colored shots and "classic" St. Patty's Day shots like the Irish car bomb and Irish frog. Plus, some of the shots feature ingredients like Guinness and Baileys Irish cream.

    This is a classic shot that many drink to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Drink this one fast, otherwise, the Irish cream will begin to curdle the beer.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish Cream
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish Whiskey
    • 12 ounces (350 ml) Guinness stout

    Instructions: Pour the Irish cream and Irish whiskey into a shot glass. Fill a highball glass with Guinness stout beer. When you're ready to drink, drop the shot glass into the glass filled with Guinness.

    2. Irish Frog

    The bright green layer in this shot makes it perfect for St. Patty's Day. Plus, you'll get some practice layering shots with this recipe.

    • ¾ ounce (22 ml) chilled melon liqueur
    • ¼ ounce (15 ml) chilled Irish cream liqueur

    Instructions: Pour melon liqueur in the bottom of a shot glass. Using a bar spoon, layer Irish cream on top.

    3. Mini Beer

    Beer is a classic drink at St. Patty's Day parties. While this shot doesn't actually taste like a beer, it perfectly resembles a draft beer.

    • 1 ½ ounce (45 ml) chilled Licor 43
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) heavy cream

    Instructions: Pour Licor 43 in the bottom of a shot glass. Using a bar spoon, layer heavy cream on top.

    4. Peppermint Patty

    This might just be the perfect easy-to-take shot for St. Patrick's Day. It's simple to make, and I promise it will be a crowd-pleaser.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) crème de cacao liqueur
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) peppermint schnapps
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish cream liqueur

    Instructions: Place crème de cacao liqueur, peppermint schnapps, and Irish cream liqueur in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass

    5. Shamrock

    This is a great shooter for St. Patty's Day - definitely a must-know shot if you plan on throwing a party! The whipped cream on top adds an extra fun touch.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) vanilla vodka
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) crème de menthe
    • Splash heavy cream
    • Whipped cream, to top

    Instructions: Place vanilla vodka, crème de menthe, and heavy cream in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass. Top shot with whipped cream.

    6. Vegas Bomb

    Need energy at the end of the night? You should whip up this shot filled with some Red Bull.

    • ¼ ounce (7 ml) Crown Royal Canadian whisky
    • ¼ ounce (7 ml) peach schnapps
    • ¼ ounce (7 ml) Malibu rum
    • ¼ ounce (7 ml) Red Bull energy drink

    Instructions: Place Crown Royal Canadian whisky, peach schnapps, and Malibu rum in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass. Top with Red Bull.

    7. Melon Ball

    You'll need some green shots to take on this holiday. Why not start with this fun shooter made with melon liqueur and vodka?

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) vodka
    • ¼ ounce (7 ml) melon liqueur
    • ¼ ounce (7 ml) pineapple or orange juice

    Instructions: Place vodka, melon liqueur, and pineapple juice (or orange juice) in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass

    8. Green Demon Shots

    Midori is the perfect green liquor for St. Patrick's Day! This shot has the perfect sweet melon flavors.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces (60 ml) Midori
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) white rum

    Instructions:

    Add Midori, vodka, and rum to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses.

    9. Wicked Green Punch Shooters

    A tropical-tasting shot that goes down easy? Yes, please!

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces (60 ml) orange juice
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) vodka
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) blue curaçao 
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) Midori 
    • Lemon-lime soda, to top

    Instructions:

    Add orange juice, vodka, blue curaçao, and Midori to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain evenly into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. Top each shot with lemon-lime soda.

    10. Hammered Hulk

    Ingredients:

    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Malibu rum
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) vodka
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) Midori 
    • 0.25 ounce (7.5 ml) blue curaçao 
    • 0.25 ounce (7.5 ml) lime juice
    • Lemon-lime soda, to top

    Instructions:

    Add Malibu rum, vodka, Midori, blue curaçao, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain evenly into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. Top each shot with lemon-lime soda.

    11. Green Prosecco Shooters

    These shots are super simple, super light, and super refreshing. And, the green Prosecco shooters are an elegant way to get any party started. 

    Ingredients:

    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) lemon juice 
    • 4 ounces (120 ml) Prosecco 

    Instructions:

    Add Midori and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Stir for about 30 seconds. Strain evenly into three 2-ounce shot glasses. Top each shot with Prosecco. 

    12. Green Punch

    Enjoy a light and tasty shot with the perfect balance of sweetness and strength. The combination of Midori and blue curaçao makes pretty green-colored shots.

    Ingredients:

    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) vodka
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) Malibu rum
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) blue curaçao  
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) Midori 
    • Soda Water, to top
    • Lemon-lime soda, to top

    Instructions:

    Add vodka, Malibu rum, blue curaçao, and Midori to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain evenly into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    Top each shot with a 50:50 ratio of soda water and lemon-lime soda.

    13. Honeydew Shots

    Fresh acidity from orange juice and the fruitiness from Midori make for a honeydew flavor that will knock your socks off. 

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces (60 ml) Midori
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) orange juice
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka 

    Instructions:

    Add Midori, orange juice, and vodka to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    14. Japanese Slipper

    A slight tweak of the Japanese slipper cocktail with the addition of vodka makes for a smooth, sweet, and sour shooter. 

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces (60 ml) lemon juice 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) triple-sec
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) vodka

    Instructions:

    Add Midori, lemon juice, tripe-sec, and vodka to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses.

    15. Midori Sour Shots

    Enjoy a sweet and sour blend of lime and melon flavors with this simple and delicious shooter recipe. You'll have fun with this electric green shot!

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces (60 ml) Midori 
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) lime juice 
    • Lemon-lime soda, to top

    Add Midori, vodka, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain evenly into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. Top each shot with lemon-lime soda.

    16. Midori Splice

    A tasty tropical drink combining pineapple, melon, and coconut flavors. You'll love this bright and fun flavor combo.

    Ingredients:

    • 2.5 ounces (75 ml) pineapple juice
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) Midori
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) Malibu rum
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) cream of coconut

    Instructions:

    Add pineapple juice, Midori, Malibu, and cream of coconut to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    17. Midori Illusion

    Another fruity blend of ingredients makes for a sweet and smooth shot. Enjoy this neon green mystery shot. 

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces (60 ml) Midori 
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) pineapple juice 
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) lemon juice 
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) triple-sec or Cointreau 

    Instructions:

    Add Midori, vodka, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and triple-sec to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses.

    18. Honeydew Martini

    The orange flavors of triple-sec or Cointreau combined with the sweet melon flavors of Midori create a honeydew flavor that is delicious in shot form. 

    Ingredients:

    • 3.5 ounces (105 ml) vodka or gin
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) triple-sec or Cointreau 

    Instructions:

    Add vodka or gin, Midori, and triple-sec to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    19. Atomic Dog

    A super sweet, tropical blend of alcohols that makes for a tasty green treat. A few drops of food coloring make this a pretty deep green color.

    Ingredients:

    • 3 ounces (90 ml) dark rum
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Malibu rum
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 2 drops of green food dye

    Instructions:

    Add dark rum, Malibu rum, Midori, and green food dye to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses.

    20. Melon Mojito

    Add a little sweet melon flavor to the fresh and classic mojito. These melon mojito shots are the perfect balance of alcohol, sweetness, and freshness. 

    Ingredients:

    • 5-6 fresh mint leaves 
    • 3 ounces (90 ml) white rum
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 1 ounces (30 ml) lime juice
    • Soda water, to top

    Instructions:

    Gently clap the mint leaves and then add them into a cocktail shaker. Add ice, rum, Midori, and lime juice, to the cocktail shaker. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain evenly into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. Top each shot with soda water.

    21. Midori Daiquiri

    Want a simple shot? Mix up a 3-ingredient blend of rum, melon liqueur, and lime to create a smooth daiquiri shooter. 

    Ingredients:

    • 3 ounces (90 ml) white rum
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) lime juice 

    Instructions:

    Add rum, Midori, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses.

    22. Blended Green Daiquiri

    Try these fun blended shots with a tasty melon and rum combo in the most refreshing form. 

    Ingredients:

    • 3 ounces (90 ml) white rum
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) lime juice 

    Instructions:

    Add a handful of ice (3-6 large cubes), rum, Midori, and lime juice into a blender. Blend on medium-high until smooth. Pour into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses.

    23. Kamikaze Kiwi

    Inspired by a drink I tried at an Argentinian bar in Florence, Italy, these kiwi shooters are a vibrant green treat. 

    Ingredients:

    • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh kiwi or kiwi juice
    • 3 ounces (90 ml) vodka
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) lime juice 

    Instructions:

    If Using Fresh Kiwi:

    Add kiwi to a cocktail shaker and muddle to release the juice. Add in ice, vodka, Midori, and lime juice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce shot glasses. 

    If Using Kiwi Juice:

    Add kiwi juice, vodka, Midori, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce shot glasses.

    24. Green Margaritas

    Use the fruity melon flavors of Midori to make a vibrant green margarita. Perfect for any tequila lover on St. Patty's Day.

    Ingredients:

    • 3 ounces (90 ml) tequila 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) lime juice

    Instructions:

    Add tequila, Midori, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    25. Blended Green Margarita

    Ingredients:

    • 3 ounces (90 ml) tequila 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Midori 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) lime juice

    26. Appletinis

    Add vodka, green apple schnapps, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    27. Green Apple Martini Shooters

    Very similar to the Appletini, these green apple martini shots are a bit lighter, sweeter, and dominant in apple flavor. 

    Ingredients:

    • 2.5 ounces (75 ml) vodka
    • 2 ounces (60 ml) green apple schnapps
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) apple juice 
    • 0.5 ounce (15 ml) lemon juice 

    Instructions:

    Add vodka, green apple schnapps, apple juice, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into three 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. 

    28. Green Tea Shots

    This is a classic shot at the bar, and now you can learn how to make it (even better) at home.

    Ingredients:

    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) Jameson Irish whiskey 
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) peach schnapps
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) sweet and sour mix
    • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) lemon-lime soda 

    Instructions:

    Add Jameson, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour mix to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake for about 15 seconds. Strain evenly into four 2-ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. Top each shot with lemon-lime soda.

    29. ABC

    This fun layered shot showcases an iconic St. Patty's Day liqueur, Baileys Irish cream.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) chilled Amaretto liqueur
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) chilled Baileys Irish Cream
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) chilled Cognac

    Instructions: Pour Amaretto liqueur in the bottom of a shot glass. Using a bar spoon, layer Baileys on top, then Cognac.

    30. BMW

    This is a creamy and smooth mixed shot that has a slight taste of coconut mixed with Irish cream.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) whiskey
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Malibu rum
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Baileys Irish cream

    Instructions: Place whiskey, Malibu rum, and Baileys Irish cream in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass.

    31. B-52

    This is a shot you'll want to add to your list, especially if you like sweet drinks and shots.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) coffee liqueur
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish cream liqueur
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Grand Marnier liqueur

    Instructions: Pour coffee liqueur in the bottom of a shot glass. Using a bar spoon, layer Irish cream on top, then Grand Marnier.

    32. Butterball

    This common bar shot is also sometimes called the buttery nipple. It's a super sweet shot that many people love to drink!

    • 1 ounce (30 ml) butterscotch schnapps
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish cream liqueur

    Instructions: Pour butterscotch schnapps in the bottom of a shot glass. Using a bar spoon, layer Irish cream on top.

    33. Oatmeal Cookie

    What's better than a shot that tastes like a cookie? I promise you're going to love this one!

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) butterscotch schnapps
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish cream liqueur
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) cinnamon schnapps

    Instructions: Place butterscotch schnapps, Irish cream liqueur, and cinnamon schnapps in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass.

    34. Oreo Cookie

    This would be great for someone who wants to celebrate with a smooth and sweet party shot.

    • ½ ounce (15 ml) vodka
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) coffee liqueur
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) crème de cacao
    • ½ ounce (15 ml) Irish cream

    Instructions: Place vodka, coffee liqueur, crème de cacao, and Irish cream in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a shot glass.

    35. Espresso Shots

    The ultimate St. Patty's shot to keep you awake and ready to party all day long!

    Ingredients:

    • 1 ½ ounces (45 ml) vodka
    • 1 ¼ ounce (37 ml) freshly brewed espresso
    • 1 ounce (30 ml) coffee liqueur
    • ¾ ounce (22 ml) simple syrup
    • coffee beans, for garnish (optional)

    Instructions:

    Add vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled partway with ice. Shake until well-chilled and foamy, about 15 seconds. Strain into three, 2 ounce (60 ml) shot glasses. Optionally, garnish each shot with a coffee bean.

    *Be sure to remove the coffee bean before consuming the shots.
