My new favorite summer cocktail, Sarti spritz, is the perfect 5 minute cocktail that's light, low ABV, and an ideal mix of sweet and fruity. You can think of this fun pink spritz as the sister of the Hugo spritz (with similar sweetness) or the cousin of our favorite Italian Aperol spritz.

As a girl who loves Italy, I think I've made almost every spritz recipe out there. From the Venetian Select spritz to Campari spritz, each cocktail has its own unique taste and characteristics.
During my time studying Italian cuisine in Italy, we had an entire week of bartending classes where we learned mixing techniques, homemade simple syrups, and most importantly, how to make a balanced cocktail.
My preferred Sarti spritz recipe veers slightly from the classic 3:2:1 ratio. I prefer to add a little more Prosecco and a pop of acidity from some lime juice to balance out the sweetness of the Sarti Rosa.

Ingredients You Need

- Sarti Rosa: This Italian aperitif recently hit the U.S. market. You can find it in Total Wine.
- Prosecco: Italy's preferred sparkling wine. I like to use a dry prosecco to balance out the sweetness. You can also substitute with brut Champagne.
- Soda water: Any plain sparkling water or soda water will work. Just don't use tonic water. A splash of soda water helps to balance out the spritz.
- Lime juice: I always prefer using freshly squeezed citrus juice for the best flavor. Don't forget to save a few lime wheels and wedges for garnishing.

How To Make A Sarti Spritz

Step 1: First, fill your wine glass full of ice. This will keep your cocktail cold without the ice quickly melting and diluting the drink! Optionally, place a few lime wheels on the outside of the glass.

Step 2: This cocktail uses a cocktail technique called the build-up method where you build the drink directly in the cocktail glass. Pour in the Sarti Rosa straight into the glass.

Step 3: Next, pour in the Prosecco, soda water, and lime juice. I like to pre-chill the Prosecco and soda water to ensure the drink stays cold.

Step 4: Finally, give the drink a stir with a bar spoon to ensure everything is incorporated. I like to garnish with a lime wedge.
Jessica's Expert Tips
- If you want a stronger Sarti spritz, try adding 1 ounce (30 ml) of gin or vodka to the cocktail.
- Always make your spritz right before serving (don't batch ahead of time) to ensure the carbonation stays fresh.
- In Italy, they often pair aperitifs with small bites. Some of my favorite snacks for happy hour include focaccia appetizer bites, Italian fried rice balls, or grilled bruschetta.
