Ingredients You Need
Vodka: A clear grain spirit, vodka is known and loved for its neutral flavor. This allows it to be used in cocktails that you don't want any extra flavor coming from the spirit in use. Because white tea shots are a variation of green tea shots, it made sense to use vodka as the substitute liquor.

Peach schnapps: Peach schnapps is a mild alcohol. It is made by infusing peach flavorings into a clear-grain spirit. The end result is a sweet peach flavor bomb. There is no singular brand that is known for having the best peach schnapps, so you can search your local market or liquor store and pick whatever you find without worry.
Sweet and sour mix: This is the main flavor you taste in your green tea shots. Sweet and sour is a mixture of lemon juice, lime juice, sugar, and water. The end result is, as the name implies, a citrusy and sour and sweet simple syrup.
Lemon lime soda: From Sprite to Sierra Mist, there are plenty of options when it comes to lemon-lime soda. At the end of the day, choose one that you like best to use for this recipe.
With that being said, this ingredient is completely optional. While I found it to add a nice flavor and help the shots go down even smoother, you can omit this ingredient or add less than the recipe calls for.
If you enjoy this shot, you're bound to love green tea shots, using all the same ingredients but with Jameson Irish Whiskey instead of vodka.
How To Make This Recipe
1. To begin to make your white tea shots, fill a cocktail shaker partway with ice. Once the ice is in, simply add the vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour mix into a cocktail shaker.
With all of the ingredients in the shaker, give the mixture a good shake until it’s well chilled. This should take about 15 seconds.
This mixology technique is known as the shaking method. As it implies, you shake the main ingredients together to incorporate air into the drink. This makes it lighter and smoother to drink.
It is extremely important that you do not add lemon-lime soda during the shaking stage. If you do, you’ll agitate the carbonation and essentially make the mixture explode everywhere if the pressure builds enough in the cocktail shaker.
2. Once the drink is shaken, strain the liquid evenly, distributing it into four rocks glasses.
3. After the mixture has been divided, top off each glass with lemon-lime soda. I used about ¾ of an ounce (20 ml) per glass.
The reason I prefer these drinks served in small rocks glasses is that the recipe yields an amount of liquid that is more than what your average shot glass can hold.
Expert Tips
- To make your own sweet and sour mix at home, all you have to do is combine 1 part lemon juice, 1 part lime juice, and 2 parts simple syrup. This is perfect if you love making things at home, or if you didn’t get any mix at the store.
- Want to make a white tea cocktail instead of shots? All you have to do is follow this exact recipe, but instead of dividing up the shots, pour them into two highball glasses filled to the top with ice. Once the mix is poured in, top off the drink with your favorite lemon-lime soda.
- Want to make a large batch of shots? You can easily shake up multiple batches of shots back to back for a party.
- If you prefer tequila over vodka, you can substitute the vodka in the recipe for your favorite blanco tequila.
Recipe FAQs
Vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour mix are the ingredients in a white tea shot. Some recipes are topped with lemon-lime soda. Traditionally, the vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour mix are all equal parts, but my recipe is adjusted for a slightly boozier shot than others you might find.
White tea shooters are an adaptation of green tea shots, which were given their name because of their greenish hue. With this being said, neither drink contains any tea or tea flavors, and the people who invented the shots offer no explanation for why.
Traditionally, these shots are made with similar ingredients including peach schnapps, sweet and sour mix, and some lemon-lime soda. The only difference is that green tea shots use Jameson Irish Whiskey, while white tea uses vodka.
White tea shots are citrusy and sweet shots that go down super smoothly. You get a candy-like taste while still enjoying a strong shot.
